Style Essential - Statement Clutch

One of my pet hates is when you see someone who has obviously spent a lot of time, money and effort making sure that their dress and shoes are amazing and then spoiling it all with the wrong choice of bag.

Presumably they spent hours looking in the mirror trying different shoes on with the dress, experimenting with different hairstyles and making sure the jewellery looks exactly right then right as the taxi arrives - grabbing the first bag they could find, often with disasterous results.

I love the simplicity of a perfectly fitting LBD with a statement clutch bag to really make the outfit look uber stylish and chic.

I'm also not a fan of matching the bag to the shoes, in fact the more it 'clashes' the better in my book!

There are so many great statement clutches around at the moment to match every budget, from super cheap to luxuriously expensive.

The Alexander McQueen box clutch is iconic and I love this diamante covered pink nude shade version with the gold skull opening.

Alexander McQueen £1,295 (http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/98692)

Topshop has a great range of bags if your budget just won't stretch to Alexander McQueen. This snake print box clutch is a really great buy.

This fun, eye catching rubber petal clutch by Cacharel comes in an amazing bright pink coral colour. It will certainly add interest to otherwise simple outfit.

This tiny but cute arcylic clutch by Jimmy Choo is perfect if you are looking for a bright neon pop of colour.

My favourite clutch of the bunch is this amazing snake suede clutch in a vivid red colour. Because, who doesn't need a red clutch at some point in their life...

This super flirty lip clutch by Lulu Guinness is a celeb favourite and just the right amount of bling.

This satin pleated clutch by Reiss is fabulous and is an amazing, grown-up shade of magenta. I love...

Reiss £79 (http://www.reissonline.com/shop/womens/bags/maddox/magenta/)
Nancy Gonzalez is famed for her crocodile bags and judging by this purple crocodile clutch is it really any wonder why?

Nancy Gonzalez £1,495 (http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/105741)

Matthew Williamson's new collection of bags is, unsurprisingly, amazing! My favourite is this beautiful soft blue raffia leather clutch.

Matthew Williamson £1,015 (http://www.matthewwilliamson.com/shop/uk/spring-2011/accessories/raffia-leather-bag-10452.html)
I know I keep going on about it but Zara is the only place on the high street you need to go for your summer wardrobe with so many beautiful bright colours. Even their clutch bags come in a range of fab colours. I love this roomy blue version.

Zara £69.99 (http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-S2011/61145/335535/XL%2BFASHION%2BCLUTCH)

So, as you can see, there really is no excuse for not carrying a fabulous statement clutch!
