Gorgeous Givenchy

Givenchy Couture A/W '11
Whoever decided that today should be known as 'Blue Monday' - in other words the most depressing day of the year, had obviously not realised that it is the start of Paris Haute Couture Week!

How can one possibly be depressed when looking on at some unbelievably beautiful, exquisite and opulent designs by some extraordinarily talented designers at the biggest design houses in the world.

Unfortunately this year though, for reasons unknown, Givenchy have decided not to show a couture collection.

Riccardo Tisci and the French fashion house have decided to take a temporary hiatus from producing the extremely time-intensive couture collection to concentrate on the main line range.

It's a real shame as it was one of my favourite couture collections along with Christian Dior. But, it's perhaps not surprising given the current financial climate and given just how expensive an individual couture piece costs. Definitely not a price as many people can justify or are prepared to pay these days.

It is certainly not all doom and gloom at Givenchy though as the recent accessory collections have been so, so good!

The new Spring/Summer 2013 collection of the Antigona bag is of lust-worthy proportions.

The colours, textured effects and materials used are absolutely beautiful. My favourite of the tri-tone collection is the khaki greens and cream Antigona medium tote. The colours are just beautiful and would look great with so many different looks but I also love the red, cream and tan version too.

The 3D effect is also a new feature of the Antigona bag this season and it looks beautiful in this gorgeous purple/blue shade.

All the summer bright colours such as the orange and red versions of the bag are also show-stopping...

The Givenchy Antigona is the bag of choice of many of the worlds' best dressed women including Miranda Kerr, Olivia Palermo and Gwyneth Paltrow who all love their totes too...

The smaller envelope version of the Antigona is also absolutely stunning and is such a classic and timeless design that will never go out of style!

Show stopping arm candy!

And again, I'm really drawn to all the bright hues in this oversized clutch bag.

Yes, I think the Givenchy Antigona bag would certainly be the perfect antidote to beating any depressing 'Blue Monday' for me...
