What to Wear - Wedding Guest

Now that Christmas and New Year are all but a distant memory, thoughts turn to plans for the year ahead. And, if you're anything like me, outfit planning for any special occasions!

As a stylist, the question I definitely get asked the most by friends, family and clients is, "Have you seen any amazing dresses I could wear to a wedding!"

Luckily there are so many beautiful dresses around just now that your only problem will be deciding which one is your favourite.

I really love bright dresses in one block colour - it's so much fun adding playful accessories in contrasting colours rather than playing it safe and adding a black or nude shoe or bag. This beautiful Miu Miu short pink dress is the perfect summer shade and will look great with a cute clutch, sky high heels and huge statement ring and cuff.

BCBG, which is now available in selected House of Fraser stores such as the Glasgow store, has an amazing choice of dresses perfect for wedding season! I have used so many BCBG dresses in photoshoots recently and they always look amazing on and are really well made too. This gorgeous aqua shade is so vivid and looks great on most skin tones too. Personally, I would add beautiful metallic shoes and a belt, perhaps gold rather than the way it is styled in photograph with the black shoes. I would also add a bright turquoise or orange bag rather than the pink too...

For a much cheaper wedding outfit option, which is necessary if you have a few weddings to attend, I love this Closet dress available on www.asos.com. It is perfect if you are maybe only attending a wedding at nighttime rather than for the full day. It has a high neck which would be perfect for adding a statement necklace. As the texture of the dress is quite simple, you could also get away with a really detailed clutch bag to add some interest to the outfit! Throw on your favourite platform heels and you are good to go and all for a bargain price!

Thanks to Christopher Kane and Stella McCartney, pleats in pretty pastels shades are going to be huge this spring/summer season.

If your budget won't quite stretch to either of the British designers' pieces, Ted Baker has the perfect compromise price-wise without sacrificing any of the style!

Those stylish Saturday's have been stateside recently trying to launch their US careers and it's safe to say that they are slightly obsessed with Three Floor dresses... and who can blame them! The dresses are all so original and different to anything else available on the high street and yet are SUPER AFFORDABLE!! What is not to love about them?!

The Saturdays looking gorgeous in Three Floor... and Cyndi Lauper rocking some Balmain printed jeans!

I have my eye on quite a few of Three Floor's dresses for a trip to Dubai next month and also for a few weddings I have this year! It is actually ridiculous how amazing their new collection is! Here are some of my favourites, all available at www.threefloorfashion.com and www.asos.com.

Printed dresses are also perfect for any summertime soiree's such as a wedding. This Marc Jacobs butterfly satin dress is especially chic if you don't like dresses too short but don't want to go for a maxi dress either. It is so elegant and yet really young and playful too.

Giambattista Valli is one of Victoria Beckham's favourite designers and she chose one of his designs for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes wedding... The dress was significantly more timeless than the marriage it would seem! I adore this girly pink printed frill halterneck dress by the Italian designer. Again, it's the perfect length if you don't want to go too short.

The ever fashionable Sienna Miller was spotted wearing British designer Peter Pilotto on the Jonathan Ross show at Christmas time. I love the print on this dress but I much prefer the halterneck version of the dress in both the blue/green colour and the pink/red print.

If money was no object, my choice for a dress for a summer wedding would most definitely be this Piora printed dress by the fabulous Roland Mouret.

There is nothing that I do not love about this dress... it is perfection! Simply stunning!

Phew, it's hard enough to chose an outfit to wear to a wedding as a guest - goodness only knows what it's like for the bride!!
